The Good: I'm not quite sure where to start about Mike Vick. There are so many things about him that can be said. This new comer to the quarterback game has one of the strongest arms this game may have ever seen and what about his speed? Well that is something you don't want to mess with either. He was able to rush for almost 800 yards last season and scored 8 touchdowns from those runs. This year the Falcons seem to have geared their offense to fit to Mike Vick (which we'll have to see how it turns out now). For being a green player Vick was able to impress fans and players everywhere with his progress in the passing game most especially. Also to aid in this new talent the Falcons shifted some talent to make room for the much needed Peerless Price to give them that added touch. Vick's mastery of both aspects of the offensive game makes him worth more then gold in fantasy football leagues. He is valuable in regular leagues as well as in yardage leagues.
The Bad: Although Mike Vick is improving his passing game his passing yardage still isn't anything too impressive and maybe some of that came from the Falcons lack of reliable recievers. This may change due to the addition of Peerless Price, but we won't know that until later. Another thing that may effect these numbers would be that fact that the Falcons don't look to Vick to pass like 40 times a game. There were only four games last season in which Mike Vick passed for more the 240 yards. So while his fluxuating points in this area won't do anything to impress fantasy football participents he still will bring about good things.
The Ugly: Atlanta Falcon's starting quarterback Mike Vick was dealt a horrifing blow to his career on Sunday August 17. The falcons were playing a preseason game aginst the Baltimore Ravens. During a play early in the game Mike Vick landed on his ankle wrong resulting in him breaking his fibula. The doctor who is in charge of Vick's recovery stated to the press that the next 10-14 days will be the most important in the recovery process. Over those 10-14 days he will be keeping an eye out on how Vick's bones are healing together via x-ray. This has not been ruled as an injury that will remove Vick for the season, but fans have their doubts. As for now the bones seem to be aligned so if they stay in this condition then the healing should take about 6 weeks. Fans sit back in anticipation and wait to see what will happen. What does this men to you as a fantasy football player? Well this means a few things. One if you have drafted and picked Vick then you need to find a worthy replacement and if you haven't drafted yet then you will want to avoid wasting a pick on Vick, although if you have a good first pick who has a bye-week late in the season then you can wait until the last round of your draft and pick Vick up as a back up and then hope he recovers. If not then you have plenty of time to find another person. Another person this injury effects is Peerless Price. Will he still be as effective with backup quarter back Doug Johnson who was a back-up in Tennesse for four years. So it's up to you now to decide the fate of these two in your draft. Good luck. And an added note to John Madden. Don't ever put a person as good as Vick on your game again or the Madden curse will strike again. Look what happened to Vick this year and what happened to Marshall Faulk last year.
